On this page
A slow website loses visitors before they read a word, and Google uses page experience as one of many ranking signals. The good news: the causes are usually the same few things.
First, measure it
Open Google PageSpeed Insights, enter your address and look at the mobile result. Pay attention to Largest Contentful Paint: Google considers 2.5 seconds or less good.
1. Compress your images
Huge photos straight from a camera or phone are the most common problem. Resize them to the size they are shown at and use modern formats like WebP.
2. Remove what you do not use
Old plugins, sliders, chat widgets and tracking scripts all add weight. Keep only what earns its place.
3. Use caching and a CDN
Caching stops the server from building every page from scratch; a CDN serves files from a location close to the visitor.
4. Load fonts carefully
Two font families with a few weights are plenty. Every extra weight is another file to download.
5. Check your hosting
Very cheap shared hosting can make every page slow, however well it is built.
