Meta ads or Google ads: where should a local business start?

Google catches people who are already searching. Meta puts you in front of people who are not looking yet. Here is how to choose your first channel.

  2. Meta ads: create demand on Facebook and Instagram

  4. Before you spend anything

Both work. They work differently, so the right first channel depends on how people buy what you sell.

When someone types "AC repair near me" or "dentist in Dehradun", they want it now. Google search ads put you at the top of those results. Good for urgent or high-intent services: repairs, clinics, coaching, legal and financial services.

Meta ads: create demand on Facebook and Instagram

People scrolling Instagram are not searching for you, but the right picture or reel can make them want what you offer. Good for things people buy with their eyes: cafes, fashion, salons, events, courses and real estate.

How to choose

  • People search for your service by name? Start with Google.
  • Your product looks great in photos or video? Start with Meta.
  • Not sure? Run a small test on both for two to four weeks and compare the cost of each enquiry.

Before you spend anything

  • Decide what counts as a result: a call, a WhatsApp message, a form or a sale.
  • Make sure it is tracked, so you can see the cost per result.
  • Send people somewhere that converts: a fast landing page, a WhatsApp chat or a booking form.

Our performance marketing service sets up the tracking first, then the campaigns, and reports spend and results in plain numbers.
